A little about Ecover's History and Products..

While we're dying to give you all the juicy details of our 30 year history, we know the real reason you're here:

You've got loads of dirty laundry.

The windows could use a wash.

Maybe you're thinking you need the crazy chemicals to really get the job done, but we know how to do it with powerful plant-based and mineral ingredients.  Give us your worst and we'll give you our best - state of the art, clean-running factories that churn out terrific cleansers.  That's the heart of our business.

The Mission:

Ecover offers efficient and sustainable solutions for the hygienic needs of people today and future generations.

It might sound idealistic.  Heck, it definitely does, but we've been at this for over thirty years now, and we still haven't lost sight of our guiding principles.  We think they keep us young and focused:

Respect, Integrity and Commitment.

We know these qualities aren't that unusual, or even exciting, for a person to strive towards.  But, for a business to zero in on these traits, and keep them top of mind in all their choices, be they manufacturing, formulation, or beyond makes for a special sort of work-place.

Ecover sent me two products to review.

The first, 16 oz Dishwashing Liquid. 

The crisp scent of Grapefruit and Green Tea is the winning combination behind this plant-based Dish Liquid.  One squirt is plenty for a sink full of dishes and the gentle formulation means no excessive sudsing.

(I did notice that there weren't many suds from either product I received!) 

 Personal benefits:

• suitable for sensitive skin
• cleans and degreases
• fresh plant based fragrance
• contains green tea extract, known for its deodorizing properties

Environmental benefits:

• made with plant based and mineral ingredients
• fast and complete biodegradability
• minimum impact on aquatic life
• no animal testing 
• safe for septic tanks

Instructions for use:
One squeeze is enough for a sink full of dirty dishes. Effectively cleans without excessive bubbles.

Packaging material:

Bottle and labels are made of polyethylene, cap of polypropylene. Polyetylene and polypropylene are 100% recyclable and can be recycled together using a low energy process.

Complete ingredients list:

• Aqua
• Sodium Laureth Sulfate
• Lauryl Polyglucose
• Sodium Chloride
• Citric Acid
• Fragrance 
• 2-Bromo-2-Nitropropane-1,3-Diol
• Limonene 

Pros: Little suds, powerful soap, good at getting messes clean. Great Smell

Cons: Does leave little residue even though it says none.  :(

 

Would I recommend?  Comparing to more chemical dish soap, I think Dawn does a better job than this product, though this product is better for the environment! so its 50/50!

Now on to Ecover 250ml Hand Soap

Give your hands the TLC they deserve with this gentle formulation of plant-based and mineral ingredients and subtle Lavender fragrance from essential oils.

• refreshing lavender scent

Packaging material:
Bottle and labels are made of polyethylene; pump of polypropylene. Polyethylene and polypropylene are 100 % recyclable and can be recycled together using a low energy process.  

Instructions for use:
Activate the pump by pushing it and by turning in the direction of the arrow. Dosage as needed.

Pros: Light weight, gentle enough for sensitive skin, good for the earth.

Cons: Left my hands overly dry feeling. :(

Would I recommend? Yes.
